"Enthralling and Sensual"
Juan Allistair left Argentina to go to Florida to play
polo. Juan is still trying to deal with the deaths of his
brother and his mother. He didn't feel that he could stay
in Argentina without them and jumped at the chance to play
polo elsewhere. Juan left behind his fiancee Rosa but
still plans to marry her when the polo season is over.
One day he passes a church that reminds him of his mother
and feels compelled to go inside. While Juan is inside
the church he sees a young, red-haired beauty praying and
is enchanted. When she leaves and he realizes that she
forgot her bags of groceries he rushes out to find her.
Renee Piccabea feels her life is boring and she is feeling
restless and wants a change. Renee is re-evaluating her
life choices and is determined to not live the same sort
of life as her mother, an Olympic Silver Medalist now a
manicurist. Renee and her mother have always been on
their own, just the two of them all of Renee's life.
Renee's father was thrown from a horse and killed before
Renee was born, leaving her mother pregnant and alone.
When Renee meets Juan when he brings her the groceries she
left behind, she is fascinated and intrigues by him. As
they get to know each other and Renee shows an interest in
horses, Juan offers to introduce her to a fellow polo
player that is looking for a groom for his horses. Renee
gets the job as a stable groom and is ecstatic. She gets
to be around horses that she loves everyday and she also
gets to spend time with Juan. In the following days Juan
and Renee try to fight their attraction for each other and
when circumstances change, Renee and Juan's lives are
changed forever. This book was an intriguing read. I was very
intrigued with Juan from the beginning, there are many
depths and layers to him that I was interested in learning
everything. Juan did upset me periodically with his harsh
and unfair treatment with Renee, but it didn't take away
from his attraction. Renee is a very naive young lady that
I didn't think was a good match for Juan in the
beginning. But I was very happy to be proven wrong. For
me though, I had very little knowledge of polo and I found
it to be very dangerous and not all that appealing. But
Ms. Winston definitely knows her stuff. I was drawn into
this book from the very beginning and enjoyed it
immensely. THE ARGENTINE LOVER was very erotic and the
passion between Juan and Renee was explosive, hot and
undeniable. They learned a lot and came into their
sexuality together, each willing and eager to please the
other. I would love to read more of Samantha Winston's
work in the future.
