"A real page turner. Great world building"
On an alternate earth, werewolves live on reservations and
for the most part receive the same respect as human
beings. They have strict birth control methods so they
don't overwhelm the human population and different packs
live in the same area. On the Ripple Creek Reservation,
the Golden pack is more traditional believing that one's
morals prevent a mating until the true soul mate is found.
The Silver pack holds that free mating is necessary and
hosts wild parties at the mansion the week before the full
moon. This month, Neva Grant of the Golden pack is at the mansion
to infiltrate the Sinclair pack because several women were
attacked and killed except for her twin sister Savannah who
nearly died. She seduces Duncan, the wildest one of the
bunch, and he claims her, through magic for the rest of the
week. He too is looking for the murderer and thinks Neva
might be a link to the culprit. By the time these two
lovers have sorted things, Neva is attacked and Duncan
kidnapped by two werewolves with hidden agendas. Fans of Laurell Hamilton and Charlaine Harris are going to
love this werewolf series. Keri Arthur creates a whole
culture out of the werewolf mythos and makes the reader
believe in the species because of her intricate plotting.
The werewolves police themselves by the rangers who are
part of their society, a situation very similar to Native
Americans living on the reservation. BENEATH A RISING MOON
is howling good fun. Harriet Klausner
