"Deeply passionate story skillfully written."
Seven years ago, Lady Sophia Alberley paid a high price for
her attempted seduction of Julian Rexley. A vibrant but
willful young lady, Sophia had thought Julian was the first
person to truly love her. When they were discovered in a
compromising situation, Julian refused to marry her,
subsequently humiliating and ruining her in society.
Devastated by his betrayal, Sophia retaliated by publishing
a veiled account of their affair. Julian Rexley, Earl of Wolfram, is livid that his impulsive
younger sister has invited Sophia to be a guest in their
home. Years before, a naïve Julian had barely escaped
Sophia's marriage entrapment. He has no wish for history to
repeat itself. Julian's distrust of Sophia is tempered by
the enormous change in her. A restrained woman with dark
shadows in her eyes replaces the lively young woman he
knew. Sophia and Julian's inexplicable attraction causes them to
behave with reckless abandon. Once again, they blunder into
a scandal, but this time Julian responds with a proposal.
Haunted by her secrets and regrets, Sophia tentatively
gives Julian her trust. But can Julian
trust her again? Ms. Smith delivers a deeply passionate love story. She
skillfully dramatizes Sophia and Julian's evolvement from
flawed, immature characters to mature adults struggling to
find love. An excellent read!
