REVIEW

"Portrait In Death"

Eve Dallas is having a great day, her case load is light, she is married to a wonderful guy and the best thing of all, Summerset is going on vacation for three glorious, sneerless weeks. Things go downhill really fast when Summerset has an accident and is unable to go and Eve picks up a murder case.

Someone is murdering young college kids for their innocence and filming the death on camera. Eve is alerted when the killer sends the information to Nadine over at Channel 75 who then alerts Eve. Who is killing these people and what is their connection to each other?

Roarke is thrown for a loop when he finds out that what he thought was true all those years ago turns out to be a lie. He shuts everyone out, including Eve and Summerset as he struggles to come to terms with the discovery. Eve knows something is wrong and does her best to be understanding and give Roarke the space he seems to need.

I fell in love with the In Death series four years ago and read them all in a two week period, and each book shows why I am as anxious for the latest Eve and Roarke adventure as a kid is for the ice cream truck in the middle of summer. PORTRAIT IN DEATH is the latest in JD Robb's popular In Death series and devoted fans will love this one as much as I did.

PORTRAIT IN DEATH will take you on a rollercoaster ride of emotions. You will go from wanting to laugh to wanting to reach for the box of tissues. Eve and Roarke continue to grow as a couple and we are fortunate enough to go along for the ride. My favorite parts are the little things like when Eve scouts around her office to make sure no one is around and enjoying her candy bar, to when Roarke is standing outside wishing Eve was there and, as he is wishing, she arrives in one of his copters.

Of course we get to visit with popular characters like Mavis, Peabody and McNabb to meeting fun new ones who you hope to see more of in future books. Personally I would love to see more of Spence who can hold her own against Summerset.

I know I won't have to tell all loyal fans to rush and get PORTRAIT IN DEATH cause if you are like me, you will be waiting for them to unpack the boxes and stock the shelves.

Summary

After a tip from a reporter, Eve Dallas finds the body of a young woman in a Delancey street dumpster. Just hours before, the news station had mysteriously received a portfolio of professional portraits of the woman. The photos seemed to be nothing out of the ordinary for any pretty young woman starting a modeling career. Except that she wasn't a model. And that these photos were taken after she had been murdered.

Now Dallas is on the trail of a killer who's a perfectionist and an artist. He carefully observes and records his victim's every move. And he has a mission: to own every beautiful young woman's innocence, to capture her youth and vitality-in one fateful shot...
