REVIEW

"Suspense thriller"

Marion Ford runs the Sanibel Biological Supply Company which sells marine specimens to schools and labs around the country. From time to time, he disappears and none of his friends knows where he has been. Marion was placed in the business he owns as a cover for his real job working for a covert operation team known as The Negotiators.

On a mission to Masagua, Marion fell in love with Pilar, the wife of Balserio a brutal politician. When Marion was forced to leave the country he didn't know that Pilar was pregnant with his child until a few years later.

Now he has forged a friendship with his teenage son though they live in different countries. Pilar tells him that their son was kidnapped and needs his help. General Balserio, who hopes to become President of his country, had a sociopath freak kidnap his son of record. He planned to "rescue" him and become a hero but the kidnapper Praxcedes Lourdes double crossed him and plans to use the lad for his own sick purposes. Marion races against the clock to rescue the son he loves above all else before he comes to harm.

Randy Wayne White has become one of the best authors of suspense thrillers writing today. His hero has evolved over several books into a three dimensional person due to getting to know who he really is as a person, a friend and a man wanting a future with the woman he loves. TAMPA BURN starts off at the speed of light and only gets faster leaving the readers no time to catch their breath. This is the best book in the series but every time Mr. White writes a book, he raises the bar.

Over the course of ten novels, Randy Wayne White's acclaim has taken extraordinary leaps. "White is willing to take risks," says the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, "which is why he's one of the few deserving of the title writer." And in Tampa Burn, the risks have never been greater.

Summary

"They've taken our son, Marion." In all his life, Marion "Doc" Ford has been passionately, irresponsibly in love with only one woman. Her name was Pilar, and she was married to a thuggish politico named Balserio in a country where Ford was working undercover.

When Ford had to run, it was with a bounty on his head and, unknown to him then, a legacy: Pilar was pregnant. Now, many years later, out of power and consumed with the desire for revenge, Balserio has kidnapped the boy and taken him to his new home base in Florida. Ford hoped he'd left his violent past behind him long ago, but he knows he has no choice. The man has his son. . . .
