"Taut romantic suspense with great mystery."
Raine Robey, computer hacker extraordinaire, is pulling her
life back together after leaving her career at the FBI
under a cloud of suspicion. Losing her job had been tough,
but the lack of trust her then-lover, Calder Preston, had
shown as she was accused of setting up a man to be killed,
had devastated her. Now, with two girlfriends, she's begun Partners in Crime, a
business dedicated to crime fighting. She's working her
specialty -- computer security - when Calder drops back into
her life with a simple phone call. Still with the FBI, he
has an "off the books" job for her. Trying to start a
company has been expensive, and Raine makes up her mind to
take the job and ignore Calder. Easier said than done, of course. He's still gorgeous and
he's determined not to let her ignore their past. As she
starts investigating Calder's case, Raine is horrified when
old suspicions arise and another man is killed - with all
clues pointing toward her involvement. This time, Calder
sticks by her, and they struggle together to solve his case
and try to find whoever is setting Raine up. I really enjoyed this book. Raine's computer hacking skills
are to be admired and the mystery is a good one. I did
figure out the bad guy, but that didn't detract from the
story. The only question raised in my mind was whether
Raine would really forgive Calder for doubting her
innocence from the first case. I'm not sure I was convinced
that she would... Overall, I recommend DANGEROUS CURVES.
And I'm expecting to see more books on Raine's two business
partners.
