REVIEW

"Who would have thought an American Beauty would come in drag?"

Brad Mueller knows his boss the police chief was mad at him for blowing a stakeout, but not *this* mad. His boss wants him to pose undercover and it could take months. He wasn't sure he could give up his women, let alone baseball. What could be worse, well maybe the fact that he'll be dressing in drag. It seems the house next door to the stakeout is owned by a lady who refuses to rent to straight guys. So the next thing Brad knows, he is prancing around her looking every bit as gay as his landlord's boss. There's one small problem -- his landlord Kristy is making it hard to pretend that he isn't straight.

Kristen Engel is not ready for the appearance of flamboyant Bradley Miller. She didn't have much choice but to rent him a room. When her ex-fiancé Frank left, he had also left her in a financial mess. With the money from Brad she was able to pay the mortgage. She just wished Brad wasn't so handsome, it was just too bad that he was gay. Kristen worked at a florist shop. There was a standing joke at the shop about a guy who always sent American Beauty roses to lots of different gals. Kristen always knows when he was moving on to the next conquest. What would she do if she knows that Brad is same man?

Brad is able to help Kristen keep Frank from walking all over her when he comes back to get some of his stuff. So to reward Brad for his help she sets him up for a date with her gay boss. Will Brad ever live this down?

AMERICAN BEAUTY is a delightfully funny story that you won't want to end. It's very well written and will have you laughing out loud. I loved watching Brad go through the motions of being gay while being drawn to Kristen. What a comedown from thinking he is a super stud to wearing pink and a boa. Don't pass up this great novel. Thank you Ms. Ladd this is a great first novel.

Summary

Kirsty Engle is in shock when Bradley Miller, resplendent in a ball gown, feather boa, and tons of eye-shadow, wants to rent her spare room. She can't understand why this obviously unavailable man makes her heart sing and her blood boil more than any other.

Undercover police Lt. Brad Mueller curses his captain and the car thieves that are responsible for him being in such a totally ludicrous predicament. It's bad enough he has to dress like a babe, but he's under strict orders not to touch one for the duration of his secret mission under threat of being fired from the force. This ladies' man doesn't know if he can stand his worse-than-death sentence - particularly after he falls for his sweet and very voluptuous landlady. As if all of that isn't bad enough, everything gets really crazy when Kirsty and her gay boss make a bet to see who can win his heart.

A sizzling, hilarious romantic comedy.

Sexual Content: E - Erotic/Borderline X - Extreme Genre: Romantic Comedy.
