"Hilarious and packed with sizzling sexual tension!"
London, 1663 When Sir Richard Blythe, a devastatingly handsome and
cavalier playwright, is commanded by King Charles II to wed
the young widow, Elissa Longbourne, he has no choice but to
agree, albeit reluctantly. He takes Elissa as his wife in
order to get back his ancestral home, Blythe Hall, that his
uncle had sold, unbeknownst to Richard, to William
Longbourne. The beautiful young widow, Elissa, suffered at the hands of
her cruel, old husband, William, and is determined that
even though the King has commanded this wedding, she will
not become any man's chattel ever again. She seeks out her
lawyer to prepare a marital agreement which states that
although Richard is her husband, she will retain total
control over the estate which will eventually pass on to
her son, Will. Tricked into hastily signing the agreement
just before exchanging wedding vows, Richard doesn't
realize the contents until much later. Despite his anger at being cheated out of controlling his
ancestral estate, Richard finds himself falling deeper
under the spell of Elissa's lovely charms. As the
newlyweds fall in love with each other, more troubling
matters arise. Someone wants the estate and is ready to
kill to obtain it. Suspicions point toward the most likely
candidate. Can Elissa trust Richard to be truthful? Or is
her heart deceiving her? Can their fragile love survive
the treachery and deceit that bubbles just beneath the
surface? A ROGUE'S EMBRACE is a romantic tale set in seventeenth
century London, and wonderfully written by MARGARET MOORE.
The author shows us the immorality and deviousness of the
elite during the time of Charles II's reign. Richard
Blythe is a lovable rogue who is sure to capture the
reader's heart in the very beginning of the story. His
heroic ways and flowery, yet so cynical, comments only
endear him further. MOORE has depicted Elissa as a
beautiful and courageous woman, bent on maintaining her
dignity and respect, while ensuring her son's inheritance
isn't taken away. MARGARET MOORE has outdone herself with this story! Her
writing is full of humor and wit, sass and sexual tension.
MOORE's talent for writing outrageously hilarious scenes,
while maintaining sizzling sexual tension is obvious when
Richard and Elissa are forced to consummate their wedding
behind a curtain while King Charles and the rest of his
courtiers sit in the same room listening! It's bound to
have the reader in stitches, just as I was, doubled over in
laughter! MOORE's secondary characters are extremely entertaining as
well. A ROUGE'S EMBRACE was made even more memorable
thanks to one special secondary character. Lord Fozbury
Cheddersby, Richard's longtime good friend, presented an
endearing picture, dressed in his outrageous hat with a
ridiculously long, pristine plume. Fans of MARGARET MOORE are sure to enjoy A ROUGE'S EMBRACE
as they are swept along with the fast-paced action and
emotions present throughout. A highly recommended book,
and definitely one that belongs on your keeper shelf! Elena Channing for Heart Rate Reviews
