Ex-Secret Service agent Jocelyn Makenzie is a bodyguard to those who can afford her services. Dr. Mark Knight's friend thinks Mark needs Jocelyn. Someone has broken into his penthouse and threatened the heart surgeon's life. Jocelyn does a little preliminary detailing of the handsome doctor and decides he's a playboy.

Jocelyn's physical attraction to Mark annoys her because she never mixes business with pleasure, and he reminds her too much of another doctor in her past. Deciding that Mark is indeed in need of her services, Jocelyn takes the job, promising herself she'll be able to handle being so near to Mark and not respond to the obvious sparks that are set off.

Mark finds the serious Jocelyn refreshing. He's definitely attracted to her, and also trusts her abilities to protect him from the person who's threatening his life. But, he's confused by Jocelyn's depiction of him as a playboy and vows to convince her she's wrong.

Their growing attraction gradually breaks down the walls, but threatens Marks safety as Jocelyn ignores her number one policy of not getting emotionally involved with her clients. It looks like Jocelyn will have to walk away from this one if she's to keep Mark safe.

In this quick-paced romance, Ms. MacLean gives readers an enjoyable reading experience.
