REVIEW

"A great romance with a bit of a mystery as well!"

Tess Elliott may be the daughter of Walt Elliott who was on the board of The Standard Newspaper but she's back in Pasqualie to prove herself an able reporter. So what if she has to start out as a movie critic.

The only thing that gets Tess's goat is when Mike Grundel, ex-ace reporter for The Star, gets demoted to writing movie reviews as well. He likes the bloody action adventures while she likes the chick-flicks. He does everything he can to rile Tess. Then one evening Tess comes out of the theater and finds out that her car has a flat so Mike offers her a ride home on his motorcycle. There's something about a bad boy on a motorcycle that just gets to Tess but she knows it would never work between them.

Tess finds herself inviting Mike up for coffee and surprisingly he accepts. He tells Tess he's only doing movie reviews until he can worm his way back into his managing editor's good graces. Then he and Tess come up with a bet that whoever gets the first story on the front page gets to cook crow for the other. Meanwhile they come upon the makings of a great story but find they keep running into each other so they decide to work together in the research stage. The more they are together the more attracted they find they are to each other. How will this all turn out? Mike is a one-night stand kind of guy and Tess wants the whole nine yards.

This story not only satisfied the romantic in me but it also had a little bit of a mystery running through it that was just enough to keep me turning the pages to find out if Tess and Mike would figure out what was going on. I have been a big fan of Nancy Warren's since her very first book and she simply cannot write fast enough for me. I eagerly look forward to her Double Duets that takes us back to Pasquelie for more stories.

Summary

Tess Elliot is just itching for the chance to prove herself as a serious reporter. All she needs is a juicy story to get the recognition she needs. When the perfect story practically falls in her lap, she's all over it. But rival reporter and resident bad boy Mike Grundel wants in on the action, too. Tess is determined not to let him beat her to the punch, and will do what she has to do...even if it means falling for the sexy rebel.

Rich princesses were never on Mike's list of conquests. But then, Tess isn't your typical rich princess. Underneath the prim and proper exterior, he knows an improper vixen is waiting to be unleashed. It's so easy to take her on and compete for a front-page story. Of course, Mike isn't interested only in reporting...getting under Tess's skin is just as fun. Now it's getting her under the covers that's going to take some work!
