REVIEW

"A well written and memorable book"

Heidi Ellis refuses to believe that her best friend Dana Turner killed her sister and she plans to prove it even as her pal sits in prison. Heidi has no idea how one becomes a detective as this is no novel where a civilian becomes an amateur sleuth. However, she thinks she may have found the solution when San Diego homicide detective, Gideon Poletti provides an adult education class in criminology that she quickly joins.

Though Heidi finds herself very attracted to the cop, she refuses to think of romance while Dana remains behind bars. However, she manages to gain more than just his teaching techniques as Gideon wants her and sees this investigation as the only way to get closer to Heidi. Even with his son objecting and his ex-wife interfering, Gideon cooperates with Heidi by investigating the case. His work and her interference and prodding lead the duo to find giant holes in the conviction of Dana, but will it be enough to free her?

This reviewer has been a fan of Rebecca Winters forever and her latest tale, MY PRIVATE DETECTIVE, confirms how good this author is. The exhilarating story line uses elements normally found in a police procedural-amateur sleuth tale to intensify the romance without skimping on the strong mystery. The lead couple is an engaging duo while the support cast adds enough depth that the audience will finish this book in one sitting.
