Kirk Hardaker, a former Marine Search and Rescue specialist, now trains dogs for rescue missions. Even though this change in jobs came a little too late for him to save his marriage, he's happy enough with what he's doing. Then Logan Kincaid shows up at his ranch wanting his help to locate a woman and her daughter who may or may not have survived a plane crash in the mountains.

Kirk refuses several times and even when Logan offers him a million dollars, Kirk still refuses until Logan tells him it's his ex-wife Sara and her daughter. Kirk knows it can't be his Sara because they didn't have any children. That's one of the reasons for the divorce. When Logan tells him that the little girl is nine-months old and that Sara named her Abby, Kirk knows that it's his ex-wife and his daughter. Nothing will stop him from rescuing them now.

Sara can't believe that someone has tried to kill her for the software that she's created to identify anyone even with a disguise. It could revolutionize the world. Now she and her daughter Abby are stuck on the side of a snowy mountain. She knows nothing about how to keep them alive but she'll do her best until they are rescued. It's just a miracle they weren't killed in the plane crash.

Kirk and his best dog Pepper are in for some hardship in trying to rescue Sara and Abby but they will do their very best to get them out. The problem is nobody knows how much danger they are all in and who else is tracking them. It's up to Sara to figure out who wants her software so much that they will kill for it.

This book had me on edge from first page to last. I really liked the fact that Kirk and Sara had a past going into this story. I was really pulling for them to get things together and get themselves out of danger. The baby Abby and the dog Pepper was just icing on the cake of this truly wonderful read!
