"A 'smile one minute/cry the next' book!"
This is not a conventional romance by a long shot. First
of all, the couple in the book is already married and
secondly, they are having serious marital problems, but this
did not halt my enjoyment of this smile one minute/cry the
next book! This is the story of Max and Kelly Walker. Kelly's sister
Erin had her story told in CHILD OF HIS HEART and her other
sister, Geena was the heroine of CHILD OF HER DREAMS.
Kelly and Max married right out of high school but before
they married Max's parents sent him to a ranch for the
summer. They were very much against their only child
marrying so young. Kelly had just broken up with Max and
he had a quick torrid affair with one of the girls at the
ranch. She got pregnant and had a child. Each of their
parents urged them to give the child up for adoption and
Max never even saw the child. Now Kelly and Max have four girls and Max wants more
children. Kelly has been working as a real estate agent
and that seems to be taking more and more of her time. Max
urges Kelly to get help for the girls and for the house but
she thinks she's Wonder Woman and can do it all. When Max gets a letter from a Randall Tipton who tells him
he's his son and wants to meet him, Max doesn't know what
to do because he never told Kelly about his fling. Max is
in a quandary. Even though he loves his girls dearly, he
has always wanted a son. Now here's his chance to meet and
get to know his son. How can he tell his family? Will it
rip the whole family apart even more than they already are? Joan Kilby's Hanson sisters' stories really touched my
heart. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole series and look
forward to Joan's next book!
