REVIEW

"A great book in the Protector series!"

I've heard a lot of things about Beverly Barton's Protector series but have never gotten around to reading any of them. Well, if the rest are as good as this one was, I'll be looking for them all!

This book tells the story of Kentucky born and raised Matt O'Brien, one of the agents for Dundee Security and Investigation Agency based in Atlanta, Georgia. Matt is in Europe having just finished a case. He's decided to take a week's R&R in Paris when Ellen Denby, the head of the agency calls, ordering him to take a very special case since he's already overseas. He reluctantly agrees until he finds out he's to find Princess Adele of Orlantha and bring her back for her wedding to Dedrick Vardan.

Adele has information that Dedrick is part of the Royalists who want to overthrow her father, King Leopold and merge Orlantha and Balanchine but she doesn't have proof. She runs away to gain time for that proof to be found and so that she doesn't have to marry Dedrick. Now she just has to make sure she's not found until the proof is in the hands of those who can do something about it.

All Matt knows is he has to find Adele, the spoiled princess and bring her back. When he catches up to her, he finds out that looks can be deceiving. Even though Adele is used to getting her way, she's not the spoiled brat he thinks she is, especially when there are threats on her life. Matt decides that maybe Adele knows what she's talking about. He decides to give her the benefit of the doubt and investigate further before he takes her back to the palace. Will they get the proof in time?

This is my first Beverly Barton and I guarantee it won't be my last. Matt was an overbearing, arrogant jerk but he knew that he had to protect Adele even if he didn't like her much at first. Adele might have been a princess but she had guts and a backbone. She wasn't one of those wimps who fell apart in a tense situation. I enjoyed this book so much that I eagerly look forward to reading more from Beverly Barton.

Arrogant, ill-mannered American, Matt O'Brien, was the wrong kind of man, but he was all that stood between Princess Adele and the deadly conspiracy that threatened everything she held dear.

Summary

THE PRINCESS'S BODYGUARD
"The Protectors"

Ready to lay their lives on the line, but unprepared for the power of love!

Don't miss the fourteenth book in the popular "The Protectors" series featuring those incredible Dundee agents.

THE WRONG KIND OF MAN

This arrogant, ill-mannered American was hardly the sort of man Princess Adele of Orlantha was used to encountering in her world of wealth and privilege. And yet Matt O'Brien was all that stood between her and the deadly conspiracy that threatened everything she held dear.

Her only hope was a marriage—in name only—to her self- appointed "protector." But to be so very ... intimate with this infuriating yet dangerously compelling man was almost more than she could bear—because their masquerade was turning into a passion that was all too real.
