Here is the second in Smith's acclaimed new series about
the only female private investigator in Botswana. Although
more episodic than his debut volume, it maintains the
latter's quality with its lyrical style, careful pace, and
rich evocation of culture, country, and characters. (I am

Mma Precious Ramotswe is the owner of the first (and only)
female detective agency in Botswana. Despite her recent
engagement to Mr. J.L.B. Matekoni, a mechanic, she focuses
her attention on her clients and her workload. A grieving
mother seeks out Mma Ramotswe for answers to her son's
disappearance ten years ago.
