"Love in Heartbreak Canyon"
Is there anything sexier than a tall, dark, handsome,
tortured hero? Not to this reviewer! Brady Marshall, Canyon
County Undersheriff, certainly fits this bill. Years ago
Brady escaped a troubled childhood into an equally troubled
marriage. When his wife told him that their newborn
daughter, Les, might not be his, the marriage
disintegrated. Brady takes the honorable route though, and
provides financially for Les even though he never sees her. Hallie Madison is in town for her sister's wedding to the
sheriff of Canyon County.Thrice divorced, Hallie has given
up on marriage. But she can't resist just one memorable
night with the handsome man she meets one evening. Both
Brady and Hallie temporarily escape loneliness in each
other's arms, never expecting to see each other again. But
fate has a way of playing tricks on lovers. The two meet
again at a wedding and they begin a journey of discovery as
they find that they may not want to be alone any longer. Thrown into the mix is the surprise arrival of
Brady's "daughter" Les. A troubled teenager, Les is
rebellious and difficult, at least on the surface.
Underneath it all is a lonely girl who is desperately
trying to find a place to fit in and be loved. Her
relationship with Brady gets off to a rocky start. Neither
one really knows how to deal with the other. Hallie becomes
the catalyst in the relationship, bringing these two lost
souls together. But trouble is brewing. Throughout the
story, Les and Hallie are victims of random attacks. These
attacks consume Brady as he tries desperately to protect
the daughter he's coming to love, and the woman he's
realizing he doesn't want to live without. Although it is
an integral part of the storyline, this mystery plot does
not detract from the primary story of relationships. LAWMAN'S REDEMPTION is the latest in Marilyn
Pappano's Heartbreak Canyon series for Silhouette.
Although it does stand alone, the reader will be glad to
know that favorite characters from the previous books do
make appearances. Brady is the type of hero women will
swoon over; Hallie is a woman we all can find a bit of
ourselves in; and Les is the teenager we cheer for as she
finds herself and a home filled with love.
