"An excellent read!"
Deborah Smith not only touches your heart, she and her
stories touch your very soul. She writes some of the best
Southern Fiction I've ever read. I relish each and every
one of her stories. This is the story of two scarred and anguished people who
feel as if they have nothing to live for until a small
southern town in North Carolina shows them their way.
Cathryn Deen has everything in the world. She is a
beautiful woman with a handsome rich husband and is a very
successful actress. She couldn't ask for anything more in
her life until she is in a car accident which leaves half
of her body badly burned and she loses everything she
thinks is important to her. Thomas Mitternich lost his wife and young son at the World
Trade Center during the infamous 9/11 incident and feels
as if he has nothing to live for. He makes it to
Crossroads, North Carolina where he decides to stay a
while. He will either drink himself to death or kill
himself, whichever comes first. Delta Witherspoon owns The Crossroads Café. People come
for miles to sample her southern cooking and her wonderful
southern attitude. Her one claim to fame is she is Cathryn
Deen's cousin and she doesn't let anyone forget it. So
when she finds out about Cathryn's accident, she recruits
Thomas to help her get Cathryn back home where she
belongs. This is where the real story of healing begins! I laughed and I cried and then laughed and cried some
more. This is one book that I believe is a must read.
I've long been a fan of Deborah Smith's and this book is
only one of the reasons why! I highly recommend this and
all of her books!
