"Delightfully funny pick-me-up read!"
Rosamunde, bastard daughter of King Henry is
prepared to take the veil...tomorrow. She has grown up in
the convent and is quite happy with life as it
is. She has her "family" of sisters and her love and
compassion for animals to occupy her time and mind
and has never thought of marriage to a human man,
only to Christ. After finding his betrothed in a very
compromising situation in the stables, Aric broke off his
betrothal and was trying to drown his misery in drink at
the home of a friend. King Henry has other plans for
Aric and demands he marry Rosamunde... When faced
with the choice of marriage or being drawn and
quartered, marriage seems the lesser of two evils. When King Henry and Aric arrive at the convent, it is to
find Rosamunde elbow deep in helping a mare birth
her foal. Both King and chosen husband are dismayed,
to say the least, and demand that Rosamunde be
readied for her marriage immediately. Though
Rosamunde agrees because she loves her father and
would obey him always, she is the most innocent of
innocents! This leads to some of the most hilarious
writing I've ever read once Rosamunde promises to
love, honor, and obey...ALWAYS... I started this book in bed on a Friday night...I had to put
it down until Saturday morning after the first three
chapters as my laughter and snorts kept waking up my
poor hubby, even though I tried to stiffle the sounds...
movement couldn't be stopped!!! Lynsay Sands is fast
becoming the queen of humor in her writing, and this
book of historical romance, mayhem, madness and fun
is one of the best I've read! I have loved all of Ms.
Sands books, but this one has got to be the best and I
have no idea how she will be able to top it in the future!
Thank you Lynsay for so much fun! As an avid reader,
my advice would be... don't miss this book!
