"an absorbing and unique story"
Liking is a flyer ousted from his home at the conclusion
to the war between the species. Lynn is the last living
shifter, enemy to his species, and desperate to prevent
the extinction of her kind. Their unlikely union bears
three children, only one of whom lives up to Lynn's
expectations of perfection. In an act of desperation,
Liking steals the children away to protect them from their
mother. When Liking meets Sarah, a mysterious woman living in the
forest, he enlists her aid, never expecting the immediate
and all-encompassing bond between them. Hell-bent on
revenge and survival, Lynn tricks two sister witches into
helping her create a vile army of evil to destroy her
enemies. Liking and Sarah must seek help from an unlikely
source, but will that be enough to save his children and
the new love he has found with Sarah? Season of the Shifters is an absorbing and unique story
sure to hold the interest of readers of paranormal romance
and erotica. The story moves rapidly, full of fascinating
twists and turns. However, this story is a sequel to The
Flyers, and though relatively a stand alone book, there
will be some confusion for those who have not read the
preceding story. Many references are made to the previous
book, especially in regards to Liking's character. For the
most part, the book is easy to follow, but it is certainly
recommended to read The Flyers first for a full
understanding of unfolding events. Characters are well developed and the society in which the
players live is fully visualized. Readers will think,
smell, and feel what Liking, Sarah and company experience.
The three children steal the show on more than one
occasion. Unfortunately, editing is less than stellar with
grammatical errors and misplaced or misused vocabulary. Though some parts may be slightly confusing for readers
uninitiated in Jennifer Cloud's world, this story is sure
to entertain and is well worth reading. Season of the
Shifters made this reviewer go back and acquire a copy of
The Flyers to read and enjoy, in addition to this
satisfying tale. © Kelley A. Hartsell, November 2005. All rights reserved.
