REVIEW

"Another SDDU book from Dana Marton!"

I cannot say enough good things about Dana Marton's SDDU books and this one is no exception! Yet again this one is very different from the others in the series. This is about Brian Welkins who was captured four years ago by guerrillas and held in a cage like an animal. It is all he can do to survive from day to day and slowly and excruciatingly plan his escape.

Brian is going to try yet again to get away when a woman is brought into the camp bound and gagged. Brian asks Ahmad, one of the young guerrillas, who she is but doesn't find out much. Brian knows that shift of power is coming soon to the camp as Omar thinks his older brother Jamal is too easy going to be the head of the group. His fears are soon realized when he hears gunshots in the jungle and knows that Omar has had Jamal and his men murdered.

Brian knows this is his only chance to get away but he does the dumbest thing or is the most honorable thing. He rescues the woman, Audrey Bennett as well. Now it is up to him to make sure they both stay alive long enough to get help and to tell the proper authorities where the guerillas' camp is so it can be disbanded. Audrey at first is very leery of Brian as he looks like a wild man but soon knows she can trust him with her life. She tells him that she was there to adopt a child with her sister when her sister was taken hostage along with about 20 other tourists. She was there to pay the million dollar ransom when she was caught as well. Now Brian knows not only does he have to rescue Audrey but he feels compelled to rescue the other tourists as well.

Needless to say that is only the beginning of this full of action and adventure full scale dash through the jungle only one step ahead of the guerrillas intrigue. I will say that I surely couldn't put this book down for one minute and read it in a matter of hours. As always, I eagerly and impatiently await more from Dana Marton!

Summary

Held captive in a Malaysian prison, Brian Welkins was ready to make his escape, when a beautiful wrench was thrown in his plans: hostage Audrey Benedict. And now, honor demanded that he rescue them both....

Once free, though, it took all the cunning and skills Brian had to outmaneuver the deadly guerrillas on their trail. But leaving Audrey behind, to become the lone pawn in a dangerous conspiracy, was not an option. For being with her made Brian remember what it felt like to be human, and alive. Still, would their hazardous run through the jungle lead them home...or into the arms of an unknown—and unseen—enemy?
