"Lessons Learned!"
Life 101 is a book about experience, covering topics
ranging from topics like "Well Being" all the way to
others about relationships, health, career, and so mnay
more. The author shares that journey through several
subcategories which offer practical and imaginative
accounts and advice, as well as the reasons why one would
want to consider actually doing each item and accounts
which show how it actually works in a single or varied
circumstances. Finally a plan is set forth for exploration
in actual practice. Although the author provides a disclaimer of intending to
share experience and not necessarily providing
inspiration, the lessons in this book are indeed quite
inspiring and make the reader want to stay with each one
for awhile in both personal contemplation and action.
While there are 101 topics, this reader found the items
about education, relationships and finances to be
particularly strong in the healthiest way. This writer knows exactly where humor and seriousness are
needed, elements of living that can only fit in the right
place through the living that went into the wisdom. For
example, the advice to do what you want to do in life,
have your own rules and live by them, and work hard
recalls earlier sections where one is advised to drop the
habit of trying to be "SUPER" in everything in one place
and in another to know "which derriere to kiss" in one's
career. These are funny yet never irreverent in tone. Even though the topics seem separate, they weave together
into a "whole" tapestry to which one can return again and
again, without ever losing the sense of that "youthful"
perspective. Whether one returns again and again to
certain or all topics, Life 101 will inspire you to
practice and yes, even create, life lessons of your own! Lovely, Caren A. Adams! Reviewed by Viviane Crystal on May 15, 2005

SummaryLife 101 makes the assumption that everyone is seeking
practical solutions to life's daily problems. Adams has
taken the most basic goals—not blaming others for our
shortcomings; living life for the moment; never giving up;
simplifying our daily lives—and, using her own life
experiences, has outlined practical solutions. While all
of our experiences are unique, the author has focused on
those with which we share commonality. For example, how do
we stop blaming others for our own shortcomings? According
to Adams, we need to take control of who we are. But she
doesn't stop there. Rather, she discusses her own
situations in which this lesson has been learned and
outlines the course of action she used to help her attain
her goals. The format of this book is easy to follow and
the "how-to's so logical that readers will find themselves
nodding and wondering "Why didn't I think of this?"
