"Don't miss the continuing story of this historical western..."
Claire Waters is stunned, to say the least, when ex-
deputy, Logan Ryan lands on her doorstep.
Her previous meeting with Logan at his parents' home in
Texas had been brief but she had felt a connection with
him. It was one that she did not dwell on because she had
to return home. Now, here he was at her mother's saloon.
When Logan literally stumbled upon Claire he almost doesn't
reconize her. No longer did she look sweet and innocent but
in her place stood a "working girl" and an enticing one
at that. Claire is used to people shunning her and thinking the
worst because of her mother's profession. But
she feels an obligation to keep the saloon running since
her mother and younger brother are missing.
Logan wants to help Claire but doesn't want to look too
deep at his reasons for doing so. He realizes
that despite her upbringing Claire is a good person with
strong morals. He sees her in action when she
helps those less fortunate than her. She has big dreams of
becoming a doctor and he sees her take care
of the prostitutes and the poor for no money. As Claire begins to search for clues leading to her
family's whereabouts she faces financial hardship and
her life is in danger as well. Still she doesn't back down
and faces it all head on with Logan right there
by her side. Her feelings for this handsome, tough man have
grown, but she doesn't think a man like
him would be interested in someone with her. Logan, too,
feels the same way about Claire but a past
relationship has left him gun shy. Time and time again these two face danger and and uphill
battles both with their lives and their
feelings. However, in the end they can't deny the true love
that is only found once in a lifetime. I found myself being drawn in to this story so quickly.
The many characters and their realistic
traits brought this book to life. The storyline is fresh
and holds several surprises. THE DOVE is
a fantastic read and one that is not to be missed. It is
part of a series by Kristy McCaffrey. The book stands alone
quite well but, after
reading this installment you will be
running to find THE WREN. I am anxiously awaiting what this
talent author has in store for
her readers next!
