"A delightful toddler's story"
Kelly Jones has created a delightful toddler's story seen
through the eyes of his big sister, who translates all his
wishes that he expresses in one word: "Mama." In clear and simple language, we follow the siblings in a
day of their activities. Friendly and protective, big
sister is far from being jealous of her cute little
brother. For example: "I play in the schoolyard 'til the
morning bell rings. Mom picks up my brother as "Mama", he
sings. He wiggles and giggles and squirms to get free.
What he really wants then is to stay here with me." Ken Kewley's appealing collages are vibrant, bold and
colorful effectively enhancing Kelly Jones words.
Although they may appear very simple, if you look closely,
you will discover Ken Kewley's intricate and whimsical
details. Nonetheless, this does not detract from the fact
that the book is age appropriate: 0-7 years. Both parents and early readers will enjoy reading and
learning about this interesting stepping stone in speech
development in the growth of a toddler. As an added bonus,
this well designed 32- page book deserves praise in its
utilization of recycled paper for all of the art work
that today is finally becoming more prevalent among
authors and publishers. The above review was submitted by Lily Azerad-Goldman, a
