"Enjoyable and Light Hearted"
One thing great about reading an older book is if you
really like it, you can go on a serious glom. Well, after
reading I Got You, Babe, I am definitely going on a glom
for whatever books I missed by this author. This is really
a fun book -- lots of comical situations along with a
little
mystery and romance. Renee Esterhaus is running from the police. They think she
committed a robbery and even shot at the clerk, for
goodness sake! Even though she did some bad stuff as a
teenager, she is way past that now but who is going to
believe her when all the evidence points in her
direction? A ruthless bounty hunter catches her,
determined to collect on his find but the feisty woman runs
again after causing a few problems for him. Detective John DeMarco is on vacation, bored, and eating at
the local diner when a disheveled woman rushes in and
zeroes in on him promising him the best night of his
life. When they get to his cabin, it is a different
story, and when she finds out she propositioned a police
officer, Renee is in a panic. What else can she do
but "borrow" his car and some money and what else can John
do but follow.... I Got You, Babe is a light-hearted read with Renee giving
as good as she gets. She finally convinces John that maybe
she really didn't commit the robbery so off they go trying
to find out who robbed the convenience store. This takes
them to the seedier part of town with visits from the
bounty hunter as well as other funny situations involving
his handcuffs. Jane Graves writes a very enjoyable and
entertaining book.
