A product of thirteen schools and twenty-two moves stretching across the United States and Europe, Laura Renken aka Lori Morgan, is a self-proclaimed gypsy. She graduated with a degree in criminal justice from the University of Oklahoma but soon discovered that her love of reading fed another passion: Her love of writing. She is a wordsmith and a weaver of dreams.

Her books have placed or won numerous awards. My Lord Pirate is a Romantic Times Reviewer's choice nomination, a Dorothy Parker reviewer's award choice, Loves Romance Reviewer's Choice and Golden Heart finalist. She is a Maggie Finalist and HOLT MEDALLION WINNER for her western Pseudonym, Lori Morgan as well as a Bookseller's Best finalist for Autumn Star.

She now lives near Chicago, Illinois with her pilot hubby, their teenage daughter, three cats, and two grown sons who visit her every so often from college.
